Barnsley’s Targeted Youth Support Service provides targeted service for children and young people aged 8-24 with SEND and their siblings.
There are many ways in which young people can benefit from attending targeted youth support provision, such as:
- Developing appropriate and positive relationships with other children and young people and adults.
- Increasing their confidence and self-esteem, independence and resilience.
- Feeling more confident in making informed and healthy lifestyles choices.
- Improving communication skills.
- Working together as part of a group or independently.
- Developing new learning and skills.
- Developing positive friendships.
- Participating in new and unfamiliar opportunities and activities.
- Recognising the achievements of themselves and their peers.
The Targeted Youth Support Service SEND provision operates on a referral only basis
Young people up to 25 years of age can also be referred for 1:1 support with an Early Intervention worker from Targeted Youth Support through Early Help if this is appropriate for them
