Looking after our mental health

It's normal to go through tough times with our mental health. Just like we take care of our bodies, taking care of our minds is important too. It's ok to ask for help when you need it.

There are things you can do to feel better, and there are services for all ages here to support you. Check out these useful links to more mental health services from the NHS.

Remember, you're not alone, and there's help available for you from the NHS here.

Have you heard of Branching Minds?

Branching Minds helps children and young people work out what the best help is for them.

This might help in school, it might be talking therapy or a referral to CAMHS. They will talk to you about apps and websites that can help you feel better.

Whether you need a little extra help or have a specific mental health diagnosis, they will help you.

Ring the Branching Minds Barnsley team on 01226 107377 or complete the request for support form here and send this to BarnsleyCYPMHRequestSupport@swyt.nhs.uk.

Could CAMHS help?

CAMHS is short for Children and Adolescents Mental Health Service.

It's a team of different experts like doctors, therapists, and social workers, who will help you if you are feeling sad, anxious or having trouble at school they can help

Usually, someone, like a doctor or teacher, refers you to CAMHS. They work closely with you and your family to understand what you are going through. They can offer different services, like talking to someone, therapy, and sometimes medicine.

CAMHS can be in a clinic or hospital, but they can also meet you in a place like a park or café if it's easier for you. They see you regularly. If you're unsure, it's good to ask your doctor or another adult for help.
