Feeding your baby

If you’re expecting a baby or have just become a parent, you may have questions you’d like to ask about feeding your baby. In Barnsley we want to support mums to breastfeed their babies anytime, anywhere. Watch our video featuring local mums and their babies talking about their experiences, click here to see which venues are members of the Breastfeeding Welcome Here Scheme.

Feeding out and about:

Here in Barnsley we have a Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme. The aim of this scheme is to support and promote breastfeeding whilst mums are out and about. Lots of local business’ across Barnsley are signed up.

Libraries across the borough have recently showcased their new breastfeeding chairs. The chairs have so far received lots of wonderful feedback from families out and about in the community. The libraries that currently have the chairs available for use include the Lightbox, Dodworth, Roundhouse and Worsbrough. Whether you are feeding and reading, or just relaxing and people watching, they are the perfect addition. Be sure to take a look and test them out!

If you have a breastfeeding question, you can talk to the Start for Life Breastfeeding Friend chatbot on Amazon Alexa, Facebook Messenger, or Google Home for fast, friendly, trusted NHS advice anytime, day or night!
