Are you expecting a baby, are you a new parent, or do you know someone who is?

Pregnancy and early parenthood can be an amazing time, but it can also be really tough. It’s completely normal to feel a mix of emotions, and you’re not alone.

If things are starting to feel overwhelming, talking to someone can really help. Asking for support is okay — your mental health matters.

What signs should you look out for?

Becoming a parent can be the first time you notice changes in how you’re feeling.

If you’ve struggled with your mental health before, pregnancy or early parenthood can sometimes bring those feelings back or make them feel stronger.

There are some common signs to look out for, and things that can really help.

You can find clear, helpful information on the Mind mental health charity website here.

Building your Baby Bond one day at a Time

From the very start, your everyday moments with your baby help them feel safe, loved and secure.

Even though babies can’t talk, they’re always communicating in their own way.

Simple things like cuddling, talking, feeding and playing all help you get to know each other and build your bond.

For some parents this connection feels instant, and for others it can take time — both are completely normal. If it feels difficult, you’re not doing anything wrong, and support is available.

Supporting you and your baby through the first 1001 days — together.

Barnsley's  1001 Days Team works with families from pregnancy until a child’s second birthday, supporting parents during this important early time.

They offer caring, non‑judgemental support  helping parents build confidence, strengthen relationships and support their baby’s emotional wellbeing.

They work alongside families, listening to what matters to them and helping create strong foundations for the future.

The group runs weekly from 10am - 12noon at Library at The Lightbox, Event Room, Level 3
