The Nurturing Programme from The Centre for Emotional Health

Children are rewarding, stimulating and fun, but looking after them can be stressful and challenging.

The Nurturing Programme helps you deal with those challenges so that you can have a calmer, happier life.

A tried and tested programme, it helps us think about what we do, why we do it and how it makes us feel.



The course is 10 weeks, 2 hour sessions each week.


What to expect:
We will look at lots of different topics, including:
🧒 Understanding why children behave as they do.
👩‍👩‍👦‍👦 Recognising the feelings behind the behaviour (ours and theirs)
🧔 Exploring different approaches to discipline
🧑 Finding ways to develop cooperation and self-discipline in children.
🌷 Learning the importance of looking after ourselves

Talking Teens

Talking Teens focuses on the changes teenagers go through and their brain development.

It gives practical advice, such as setting boundaries improving communication skills, and understanding empathy, to help build your relationship with your teenage child.



This course is for all parents and carers of children at secondary school, 11 years plus.
The course is 4 weekly sessions, 2 hours each week.
With the opportunity of a 5 week to include group work with teenagers themselves, if requested by the group.


What to expect
The course covers:
👨‍👦 Foundations of positive parenting: providing warmth and structure
🧠 Messages from research: the teenage brain, sleeping habits and more
🍷 Handling difficult issues: drugs & alcohol, social media, sex, sexuality and staying safe
⚡ Power, boundaries and problem-solving

Parenting Puzzle

Helping parents to feel more confident and have greater understanding of their children’s needs during the younger years.

The Parenting Puzzle is a programme helping parents to feel more confident when parenting toddlers and young children.
It can be tricky parenting children under 5 so pop along to our 4-week group and get some handy hints and tips for managing the pre-school years. It looks at topics such as how to make the most out of child-led play with toddlers and young children and helps parents get to grips with age appropriate boundaries and praise systems.

The programme is 2 hours a week for 4 weeks


Who is it for?
Suitable for parents/carers with children aged 0-4 years
